maybe i got a little ahead of myself there..........but mk was originally made by a group of young computer guys. Then with luck developed into a very important game to me........Ive been around soo much because my brother (oldest)
use to bet money on mk when 1 and part 2 was out(arcades)

now its live and the game MK:DECEPTION has so much to it. i garuntee this game will not be displeasing to any1 who is interested.......and whenever i get off work ill be playing it myself ;)

I hope they gave Sub-zero some better fatalities...
In Deadly Alliance he didnt even have his trademark 'freeze fatality'...
i mean, c'mon you cant have Subbie without a freezing fatality.
Also Reptile looked like Dessan's retarted brother. Why cant they just change him back to the good old MK2 reptile?

But the fact remains that Mortal Kombat rules :D

Chroniktoke
04-10-2004, 17:26
i CAN confirm that every character from the mk universe will be featured in this game (most are unlocked).I CAN confirm that there will be at least 2 fatalities per character, more for original characters.

YES CHAIRWALKER HE HAS HIS ORIGINAL OFF OF MK 1......THE DREADED HEAD AND SPINE RIP AND THE FATAL U SPEAK OF (FREEZE AND RIP :) ).

I CAN CONFIRM THAT THERE ARE NEW HARA KIRI MOVES (SUICIDE FATALITIES) SO THAT IF U ARE GOING TO BE DEFEATED ,UR LIFE CAN BE TAKEN AT UR OWN HANDS

THE LAST THING I WILL CONFIRM IS THAT THE STAGES WILL HAVE SEVERAL INTERACTIONS

SEVERAL PITS IN ONE LEVEL THAT CAN HAPPEN DURING THE MATCH (SUCH AS A GOOD UPPERCUT OR ROUNDHOUSE BESIDE A CLIFF OR SPIKE :) )

either way this game will blow yalls minds away..........deadly alliance was merely a setup for this game

Chroniktoke

srry to double post, but ill answer these last questions..............yes sub zero will have 2 or 3 fatals that are VERY awesome (judging by the previews)

reptile will be able to be selected as ninja and true form

u must realize his lizard appearance was planned for mk2 but forgot why they couldnt do it

A game where you can uppercut your friends into a pool of acid, cut them in half with your hat or rip their leg off and beat them to death with it cant suck.
It just cant.

Chroniktoke
05-10-2004, 20:52

Mk were great games, and unlike its only real rival streetfighter, its actually trying to further itself as a game recently.

Compared to streefighter and mk.. modern snoozefests like tekken and virtua fighter seem bland and ordinary to me. Doa is ok though, cus it has jiggly tits.

Button mashing is indefinitely what MK brings, theres no immersion or sense of skill to the combat, rather than "Omgbustorz my special moves" over and over.

Im not a great fan of fighting games, but I do prefer a good fight where you can tell it actually needs a higher level of skill to play.
Its actually why some of you gimps think BF is good :D

Christ no! MK has never been a button basher, and never will be I hope. Its always required more tactics and skill than other fighters. People that just bash the buttons will never be able to appreciate mk games properly.

Timing and combos are what matter. (I remember beating shao kahn in mk3 using a sub zero 32 hit combo, and it still took a few of those)

Walker

If you get wound up by someone "dissing" a game I think you need to get out more.

Im free to hold my opinion, MK was ****, is ****, and most likely will remain **** for years to come.

Also acid, remembering 36 hit combos or whatever does not hit me as needing skill

ACiDuS
06-10-2004, 13:01
Well thats cus you're the type of noob who just crouched and sweep spammed.

The fact that I would whup you every single time without exception till the end of time proves that its not a button masher, but a game where skill matters.

Also acid, remembering 36 hit combos or whatever does not hit me as needing skill

The timing, memorisation, finger dexterity, hand eye co-ordination and tactical insertion of these mega combos took extreme amounts of skill and natural reflexes to do.

There was more tactics and skill in one bout of mk/2/3 than all the tekken games combined.

Alesh
06-10-2004, 13:21
I won my first game of Tekken 3 just by using Gon and spitting fire or attacking their feet with his tail... and farting too. Talk about needing skill. (there's also the fact Gon was so small high punches didn't hit him)

Walker
06-10-2004, 16:05
I would whoop you everytime on tekken or soul caliber, but that doesnt necissarily make them decent games either, as they dont have reidiculous special moves such as freezing someone for a free hit, or vomiting on the floor so they fall over.

And Alesh, im fairly sure you werent playing someone half decent then.

Here's how I see it. Mortal Kombat DOES require skill, but in a different way. I'm also against fighting games, but I'll play Mortal Kombat if I'm moderatly bored. The kind of skill in MK is basically insane reflexes and memorization and only comes from practice. Little thought is required in fighting games; even less than is required in hack and slash games. Also, a lot of fighting games lack a list of moves and I don't find the idea of figuring them out very amusing. I amgoing to have to side with Walker on this one. Fighting games are decent and some of you seem to like them, but, compared to tons of other games/gametypes, there isn't a lot of tactical thinking, or really thinking in general, involved in the games. I've played Soul Caliber II for a long time and I am not that bad, but I also never need to think very hard, but, rather, watch the opponent and react to his moves, which consists mostly of guessing since no one can react quickly enough to identify the move and then know the exact counter before it hits you. Then, if you've practiced pressing the same buttons over and over you can shoot some special thing at the guy and maybe kill him.

The most skill required, yet still too easy, fighting game is Tekken because blocking is much more important there than in other fighting games. Being able to parry at the right time and kick/punch at the right time should be the goal fighting-game-makers should have in creating their games for realisticness and player competition. All I see people do, even those who are 'really good', is memorize combos and do them repeatedly.

Walker
07-10-2004, 10:31
Im with mapex.

Even though I know every move for Jin Kazama, that doesnt make me good at the game, as the fighting rarely ever lets you pull off huge combos unless you're fighting an idiot.
The combat is more tactical than MK, and there are no stupid special moves.

Chroniktoke

every 1 is of course free to thier own opinion, but this thread is about deception not the past games and i doubt all of you have yet to try deception out.

A game where you can toggle between 3 different fighting styles and a weapon to me is awesome,i can just sit and watch the game and be satisfied.
A game where you can freeze somebody, rip thier head off, then slide back and throw a home-run pitch with thier own head into thier body making them explode is great.A game where you can uppercut somebody in the middle of a match off of a ledge and have them fall about 115 stories on to a giant spike to watch thier intestines and vital organs pop out and land on thier face is great. Most of you always criticize George Lucas and Ed Boon,John Tobias,
and so on and so on.I havent seen any of you acheive what they have acheived (movie battles is very great but its no mortal kombat guys)

just please at least go to www.mkdeception.com and go to downloads and videos to watch ed boons walk-through of the new game before deeply judging it

(remember mk is not just a fighting game now,it has a story-like mode and chess + puzzle kombat)and sorry if any1 really got offended , i take mk kinda personally ;)

The 3 different styles are utter ****e in Mortal Combat. Having weapons vs no weapons pretty much sucks, theyve tried to combine soul calibre and tekken, and its utter balls.

The gore is OTT, and doesnt make a good game. The fatalities are there to mask the utter crapness of the game.

ok so your saying they are combining tekken and soul calibur?

THIS THOUGHT WOULD MAKE U A DUMBASS because when you switch to weapon and you get hit it takes more damage .The fighting styles are used to make extra longer combos and throw in weapon hits into the peak of the combo......nothing about ANY of the gameplay compares to that of tekken nor soul calibur

i dont think u should judge a game like that ,buddy..........
I myself believe that Tekken hardly is any good (was back in the day).
Maybe your just mad because some little dorky kid kicked your ass in the original mortal kombat one day at the arcades (my estimate).

HOLY **** KESHIRE!

Sigh, 18 and still no one I'm attracted to (and no one who's attracted to me).
I hope to somehow luck out and find a sci-fi chick (who's not nerdy and actually pretty nice looking) who can deal with me being obsessed with The Matrix.

Anyway, I never said fighting games sucked. They are cool but in general they don't require too many tactics (you have to admit). I loved MK and Street Fighter back when I had a SNES and played my friend's Sega Genesis. I played Tekken on a friends PS2 and it was great b/c it required much more tactics. Even then, it was still kind of easy. I don't really play fighting games much anymore. They are mainly cool for the cool moves, cool characters and bios and each of their endings, and the hidden characters to unlock. Other than that there's no real 'skill'. Hopefully a new generation of fighting games will come out to require more skill.

I don't think this counts, but Super Smash Bros for N64 requires mad skill b/c it feels like four-dimensions (3d with motion, whereas MK and stuff are just 2d with a limited vertical axis...easy to get close to your opponent whereas in Smash Bros its hard). It's a fighting game but kind of different. Anyway I'm done with this post gonna go play MB2 after having 2 midterms in a week (damm I thought college = relax w/ the ladies)

All I see people do, even those who are 'really good', is memorize combos and do them repeatedly.
I've seen tournaments on TV (not the actual tournaments, but previews and just segments about fighting games... I don't think I'd ever watch that cause watching is worse than playing...) where all the guys/girls, that do really good, are pushing the correct buttons for combos and then you see two characters doa special attack and whoever got it first hits, and this is repeated until someone dies. There might be a block or evasive maneuver here or there, but that's basically it. I do play games like Samurai Shodown and MK for SNEs cause they make cool screesnhot pictures, sprites, and sigs, and a lot of development goes into the characters so they're cool. Also, a noob fighting another noob is fun cause, as with me and my brother, they don't know any moves and its nice and slow and stuff.
And btw, Mapex, we really gotta disagree on something ;)

Pilo T
08-10-2004, 01:32
Super Smash Bros for N64
And GCN. If I didn't have SSBM for Gamecube, I wouldn' thave had Gamecube for more than a week cause all the games on it, other than a select few, are crap. But I agree, Super Smash Bros. is one of my favrote games (not just fighting). For the next one, they should remove all pokemon because they're just really annoying. Possibly keep that Mewtwo guy, but the others are complete crap and they ruin the game. If they don't remove them (they're still makin those damn games so I don't see them getting removed), I hope to god they don't add more. I'd also like to see more characters that don't have the exact same move sets as some other only different power, speed and color.
