Before any of you say anything, I'm not advertising! :D
Surely, most of you back in JO know about Force Mod II. Apparently a sequel to that is about to come out. It seems like the makers of this mod are once again coming up with some great gameplay.
Here is the site: http://fm.mt-wudan.com/index.html

ooooooooh, look at the screenies, if we could get that flaming effect on our jedi as a mand killed them...........
hmm, might be worth watching. Keep in mind that its still in alpha though, and by the time it gets released movie battles could have just as nice features. Rgb sabers would be pretty sweet methinks.

Anyone think a partnership between MBII and FMIII could work out?
Well I did like Forcemod II, but it is a different kind of mod imho. Forcemod II was like a nice implementation of the merc vs jedi feature that JO has. Forcemod III seems like... well, I m not sure, it seems to have a LOT of new classes. That, and the *new* stances (well balanced), is what I d really like to see.
But I suppose that thoses new classes will be all, er... *uber* powerful. Balanced, yes, but really powerful. MovieBattles goes the opposite way in this issue (i think!), so, with MB, we have a really nice new gametype that is closer to the SW movies. With Forcemod II you have a really nice Jedi vs Merc FFA in JO. With Forcemod III, I suppose, you will have a really cool Jedi vs Merc vs whatever in JA. As I said, it is a different idea.

A partnership as in mergeing 2 mods would never work. Possibly trading bits of code would. But thats up to the team. I agree with sais that it is a completely different kind of mod though. IMHO forcemod 2 was ok but was very gun ho and nothing like the trilogy. I don't particularly like that in a mod.
The Super Battle Droid might be useful, but s'far as I can see from the picture it's a Pilot Battle Droid
Cheers,
John
Thier 2 saber system looks rather nice, perhaps that could be bargained for :)

I don't think a collaboration between MBII and FMIII is completely impossible. There are definitely things that both sides can benefit if there was an alliance.

And in what particular sense do you mean that ?
Azymn and the MB Team are some what working together (code-sharing and stuff), but as far as known, the Saber System in FMIII hasn't changed that much regarding the Dual Sabers.

None-default stance? Could be just looks that way cus he's using lightning, but it looks like from other pictures like this:

that perhaps theyre altering the sabers animations, or at least thier abilities.
I think theres probably going to be a collective sharing agreement between all different JA mods. As it stands right now all the mods are utilizing the ojp code to some extent and various other aspects of ojp. From what I remember of some very bad JA mini-mods that came out last year alot of ppl were altering saber stances by just changing a few of the default values in a file but dont quote me on that cause its been a while since I bothered to pay any attention to stuff like that. I looked at those pics and the one where the guy is holding the single saber and doing a kick, you can do that with JA using devmapall and then using setforceall 9, though you can't have the patch installed cause it doesn't work with it. Though you could probably alter the abilities and "unlock" the different saber stances to be usable for all saberstyles (kinda like Omni mod for JK2).
I think though now that the animation files are out for use that the mod will start to get more interesting though. FM3 seems somewhat slack in their updates. I've checked out the site a few times and all i've noticed are ppl saying they can't find the beta server. I'm not trying to knock it cause its probably going to be a good possibly even great mod when its finished but I haven't seen anything quite yet thats peaked my interest. Kinda like the matrix mod for JA, When i heard about it, I was really interested in it. they have some great screenshots but haven't released anything and well.....most ppl get tired of waiting. Even by doing what Atotc:tc did, just release a few demos, it keeps ppl interested. Though to agree with an earlier post, I'd really like to see a jedi torched up like they have in a couple FM3 screens. I also find it interesting that their going to be incorporating the Yuuzhan Vong into their mod as a player class.

Well, as always, OJP is set up as the community code platform. While Azymn has stated that he supports OJP, he has yet to submit anything. We'll have to wait and see.
Allied, we are; a partnership, we have - Phunk rocks.
MBII vs. FMIII: sais nailed it - MBII is an awesome tactical and cinematic experience that closely parallels the OT in form, feel, and funfactor. FMIII is geared to have a feel more like the Clone Wars cartoon microseries, with hyperbolic "uber" classes.
BTW - thanks for the compliments in this thread. It was refreshing to come to what some would call a "rival" mod's website and see how respectful all of you were towards another mod.
Thanks for pointin this thread out Phunk. =]

Good luck. Seems to be a lack of enthusiasm towards doing anything other than goofy ass clan skins. The lack of quality work is a blight on the community as the experianced people are moving on. And I'm the only "cat" left. :)
Toonces and Cheshire have moved on. And they were one of the better modelers out there.
I've asked around quite a few different places on how to incorporate "weapons and such into JA, I did a really nice force pike that i'm overly pleased with that i'd like to bring into the game. now with that said.
I know how to do 3d, and do it quite well actually.
I went to school for 3d animation and have gotten a great job from it. I know the coding aspect to JA is beyond anything I'd ever be interested in learning thats the whole reason i've never attempted to learn some of this in my free time, I dont seem to have the will to sit and learn how to incorporate some of this stuff into the game. Some ppl have the passion for it and the time to do it. I've got a day job that requires more of me than I sometimes think is possible. when I was in school we got crapped on cause we were using SoftImageXSI and everyone else was using 3dsmax, I wont trash max it has its strong points but XSI is the easiest 3d program i've ever used.
As for animating and modeling around a xsi skeleton, rigging the model and making sure its properly uv mapped and skinned thats nothing really easy to do, I pulled away from characters and have been modeling Vehicles for a while but should be easy enough to do especially since the XSI skeleton is already provided. If your lookin for someone to do animations i can pull 'em off like nothing. I might take a little to get'em back to ya cause of my work load but if you want an extra modeler and animator i'm here.
With that said.
The lack of enthusiasm is from a lack of product Moviebattles is the only mod i've seen that is making headway and keeping ppl informed of what their doing. Its great to make a mod but when u just keep making alot of hype about it then ppl lose interest really really quick. There are probably alot of ppl in the JA community that have animation experience but like me they all probably have demanding day jobs, the other problem is the lack of mature ppl in the community, there are alot of really ummmm, "young" ppl that play this game and as such the mature players, ppl with coding and modeling experience are leaving, part of this I think is from frustration of ppl trying to lay claim to other ppls work. but enough of this. I'm just going to get into a rant about how 12year olds ruin online gaming.
If you want help doing some stuff let me know and I'll do what i can.
Well said. And if you do anything. Anything at all feel free to donate it to OJP. It WILL be used in some fashion I'm sure. Feel free to work on whatever you please on whatever timeframe you'd like. I'm a 3ds max guy myself. So I have a setup to use Character Studio and various motion capture formats. If there's any help I can give a future animator feel free to pump me for whatever info I have.
free, free, free ,free. I think you get the point :)
I noticed that you've been trying to avoide the shall we say......useless fancy moves. so would you prefer stuff that has a more practicle use. I.E. a better swiming animation? as long as i've got some ideas to work with I'll take off like crazy. I'd gladly submit anything i come up with for the OJP its by far the best community response i've ever seen to any game and for what its worth I know that you guys behind it are doing everything in your power to max the potential of JA. Making it the game it should be.
Fancy stuff has its place but practicality gets priority. But I'm always for sneaking in some draw and holster anims (in each release) that only need defined and can be placed in the saber definition files. :)

Exactly. As long as the animation implimentation is sane, I'm willing to do whatever coding is nessisary. I've already done the work for all the Ledge Grab moves, we're just waiting on finalized animations from N3G1.
Also in the cooker are....
- a Clone Wars replacement for the Missile Launcher with new animations and such.
- Brand new block positions with transistions moves. Is will all go into a new fancy blocking system that I have planned.
Since there's a lot of work load involved with doing these, I suspect that Keshire could really use some help in this area. Maybe you could handle the animation set for one of the weapon types (like the saber staff).
Additionally, we could troll around a bit to see what the other coders want. I imagine someone out there wants to code in a dual weapon wield system. Some new animations for that would be perfect.
Anyway, I'm going to suggest that we bump this over to the OJP forums since it's straying off the MB reservation.

So the partnership is finalized already? How did it come across?
BTW, do I get some recognition for linking these two mods together? :p
Most of the big coders regularly converse with each other.
RazorAce - OJP
Renegade -MB
Azymn -FM3
Wudan
Unique -AOTC
Chosen One-AOTC
So usually their always sharing ideas and some code here and there.
Yeah, what Kesh said. =]
I think we've all been on the same team for a long time - we're just working in different areas.
I really like what Renegade is doing with MBII and what Ace is doing with OJP, and by helping each other out we can enhance progress in each of our areas at the same time.
